Opening Day 2018

3/29/18 Thursday

This week was meet week. My team left Madison on Tuesday to head out to San Diego for their spring training trip and I stayed behind to prepare for my meet today at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. I have never been there but my coach heard it was a good place to throw and it enabled me to get a competition in without having to miss class. It was in the high 40’s and ever changing winds. Not ideal situations, and I could not seem to find my rhythm in the ring, so it was not a great opening day. However, I was able to learn from my throws and will go back to the training ring and put those lessons into effect. Tomorrow I am headed to Arizona for the holiday weekend to visit family and get some warm weather throwing in. It will be so nice to feel the sunshine and prep for my next meets in California in two weeks. Be sure to keep an eye out for the traveling elephant and other photos to catch up on my trip! Things are a little crazy for me with season starting and school work at a peaking point, but I am excited to say I have my internship site secured and I look forward to starting in the field in May. It will be amazing to work with real clients and put all of the knowledge I have gained in the last year to work. I am so grateful to be able to pursue both of my dreams (throwing and being a Marriage and Family Therapist) concurrently.

Until next time!
Kelsey
